PINE RIVERS EXHIBITION
The Pine Rivers Exhibition is on this weekend
At STRATHPINE COMMUNITY CENTRE
199 GYMPIE ROAD, STRATHPINE
We are delighted to support one of our Queensland Retail Teams, Don Carlson from
Don will be displaying the Decoration Samples of our 2300 now in production.
Apart from some minor scratches we are very happy with the samples. The colours are crisp, accurate and placed correctly and the pad printing is sharp and amazing. We remind customers these are painted samples for us to review and ensure that the factory has carried out the decoration as per our graphic artist file. Sometimes we and they get it wrong, but these samples are made so that the final production is: “SIMPLY THE BEST”
This is the philosophy we take with all our models – fully researched leading to accurately made models of high quality – design, presentation, build and operation. At the end of the day, we are only as good as our factory and we believe, after moving from several factories (particularly to make the best 2300 possible), we have one of the best model train factories in China for our manufacturer.
2309 BRONCO LIVERY – Version 1 in OUR 2300 CLASS SERIES
2370 BRONCO LIVERY AS ORIGINALLY RUN IN WA – VERSION 4 in or 2300 CLASS SERIES
2301D EAGLE LIVERY – VERSION 2 IN OUR 2300 CLASS SERIES
2311D BANANA LIVERY – VERSION 2 in our 2300 CLASS SERIES
Latest delivery information from the factory indicates a late September shipping and thus an October delivery. This is outside of our desired delivery time but is due to doubling the size of the original production run.
1550 & 2400 CLASS SERIES OF LOCOS
Also on display will be some test decoration samples for the 1550/2400 series production run. We particularly asked our factory to make two special decoration samples so that we could display them at Pine Rivers so as to get some feed back from our valuable modelling community.
We are glad we did as already we have found a minor but important tooling error. Tell us if you can find it.
There are a number of other errors including missing the white colour in the shield on 1565. The main reason for putting these sample on display for is to open a discussion on the colours & logos.
We have all the original Dulux colour Numbers used for the QR BLUE LOCOS. These colours are no longer available today as the composition of paints has changed substantially over the years. We asked Dulux to provide the contemporary equivalent in today’s
paint range. Dulux very willingly provided this information and we are grateful for their assistance. The issue is, with the change of composition are the blue in particular & grey a little darker than the original? We know the white is also not quite correct and have already sorted this. What do you think? Correct or a bit lighter.

1550 CLASS – OUR VERSION 1 IN THIS SERIES
2401 BICENTENNIAL
Of some controversy and entertainment amongst our team is the actual colour used for the Bicentenary logo on the 2401.
The official Queensland Rail photo below and indeed other official photos clearly indicate that the original colour applied was a very dark blue-green. Many photos in our collection also indicate a lighter green and most of our collection of of photos supports this, bearing in mind that many show a faded green. It will be correct on the production model. You can bet your last dollar on it.
2400 CLASS – VERSION 2A IN THIS SERIES
As a side note can you spot the differences between our Version 1 & version 2A?
It’s all in the nose.
