V/LOCITY UPDATE

I was excited on Wednesday when a parcel arrived with the 2^nd run V/locity samples. In fact I drooled, they are so good.

Naturally there are one or two minor issues to tidy up. Our factory is now closed for Chinese New Year but we were advised prior to their break that the V/locities will go straight into production once they return to work with an expected shipping date around 20^th March.

Unfortunately, that will mean the stock will not be available at Sandown but will be available in early April.

This model is being produced by our ‘L’ Class factory so you know the quality is A1
All new 5 pole motor
New all wheel pick up
All new inter car couplers

Contary to social media chit chat, we previously advised customers through this web site and those directly contacting us about coupler difficulties that they may have experienced, that we had spare couplers available but they were as per what was currently on the models.

We also advised that there would be a new or retooled coupler on the 2^nd run of V/locities and that we would order an additional quantity and make them available as replacements free of charge to anyone requiring them. ( The offer is limited to the extra quantity we ordered on a 1^st in 1^st out basis until the stock is finished).

‘L’ CLASS

The L Class continues to sell through. L268 Experimental is sold out. There is one L11 ARG remaining ( with sound ), 3 only L9 ARG 3102, Less than 10 of L1, L5, L17. Many of the sound units are sold out or close to it (only 52 in total remain ) but we have a limited stock of pre-recorded decoders that we can fit to a model until these too are sold out. Please ask us or your favourite retailer how we can help you.

Not all of our retailers are specialty train shops like . Some like are all round hobby shops that might have special appeal because of their variety and size or location for international travellers. Others, as we said like are specialty train shops. The one thing they have in common is that they offer a 1^st class personalised service like at Hornsby in Sydney. These big city stores are not on their own though because this top service is also available from our country cousins like The Model Train Store at Bendigo Electronics. Of course, they also need to meet our terms of business.

So, to be Southern Rail’s PREMIUM RETAILER of the year you have to achieve an outstanding sales result. Last year if would have been for an outstanding sales result with the Vlocities. This is not based on store size but on an incredible result over and above what would normally be expected for that retailer. Unfortunately, we only instituted the award in 2015.

2015 was a close call because after a very slow start really ploughed away. On the other hand, our first winner and recipient of The Southen Rail Liveried ‘ L’ Class, End Of The Line Hobbies started in top gear & continued on in top gear. Congratulations Paul & Rod on an outstanding result.
