2300 UPDATE | L CLASS GOES INTERNATIONAL

AUSTRALIA’S  ‘ L’ CLASS GOES INTERNATIONAL

The last of our L Class arrived into Australia on the 5^th and we will take delivery of the models today. All outstanding orders will be despatched by the end of the week.

2300 CLASS UPDATE

I am pleased to advise that very good progress was made on the 2300 class on our recent trip to China.

Final tooling changes were made to our 4^th version correcting some detail that was missing from the toilet end.  Whilst there, we made some additional tooling changes to ensure that the loco fitted tightly together. An updated version of the L class motor was installed along with some changes to the gearing, pick up, drive, speaker and PCB. Painting masks and plates were finished by the external supplier as we were leaving. The packaging detail was received during last week and some adjustments made. There are just a few more details to finalise.

All in all, huge steps were made and a benchmark was given for 8 fully painted running samples in both gauges to be in Australia by 17^th December. We are waiting these with some great anticipation.

Our hoped for position is that no further corrections will be required but this depends on the testing by our engineers and off course, no further corrections are required to the decoration. If all is good, it is possible that the start button can be pressed and the 2300 shipped by Chinese New Year, the beginning of February.

We will provide further updates in due course. 

2400 CLASS

Once the dust settles on the 2300 class and we have a well-earned rest over Christmas / New Year, we will put the finishing touches on the 2400 class. No further update will be available until early 2016.

TANK CARS AND OTHER PROJECTS

Also whilst in China we took steps to expedite some of our outstanding projects including the OLO, Ampol & Freight Australia tank car models plus three previously unannounced models which have been lurking in the background for the past two years.  

Whilst we are not able to provide any further detail at this time nor are we prepared to put a date on any of these projects/ models, be assured, Southern Rail has an exciting year planned for 2016 with models flowing right after Chinese New Year.

A whole new range of trackside models are currently being quoted on and once received, some selection decisions will be made and announced.

SOUTHERN SPRIT CLUB CAR

We have selected our next Southern Spirt Club Car Model. This could be a bigger surprise than many may think. We came across it purely by chance. One free wagon to the first person that can tell me what it is with a photograph.
